Looks pretty damn cold.
MN winters definitely challenge the fingers and toes... we use the word frigid to describe the weather. I use the word frugers to describe the inside of my nose after being outside for an hour or so

One more owl session before they depart for the season.
I test drove TC1.4 today (1st three photos) & the results are surprisingly usable (in my opinion of course). Not something I'd use often with this lens - but still.... options are there when there's enough light.

Thanks! I have a thing for those owls. One of the 1st birds I photographed last January where this bird photography adventure started for me.
On behalf of canine Bruce, I protest!
(Edited to clarify which Bruce I am protesting on behalf.)

The first attempt the Juvenile Bald Eagle missed, and then this was him coming around for a 2nd attempt. He was successful this time on a tiny morsel of a catfish. These are small enough that they transfer in mid flight and just eat it right away. No tree needed for this meal.

Bravo!... Where I live, this species is so difficult to photograph. They do not tolerate humans, even when encountering them in remote locations.

Pretty much the same here they are very skittish except for this one for some reason but I'll take it! Thank you!

For those looking for an 800PF, there are an unprecedented number being sold on the Buy/Sell section (4 total). It looks like some have decided that their 600mm f/4S is enough, or the lens is longer than they need.
Where I live, every mm matters.
These two were taken today, and I needed every one of those 800mm and had to use DX crop on the Z9 to get the composition I was seeking.
