These are awesome images!!!
Thanks George, likewise, greatly enjoying your work with the lens. Very curious to see the look of the 800 vs. 400+1.4's and internal TCs if you ever get the opportunity. I'm pretty impressed with the output of the latter combo on the other thread.

Enjoying working with the lens for BIF, it's super hand-holdable, of course the reach is awesome but the tradeoff is that it is pretty hard to frame flying subjects at 800mm; I'm considering a dot-sight in the future when using this lens. It's kind of funny having to step back for birds and other wildlife to fit them in frame

I think I would love this lens... not sure if I would make the most of it, but I'd love to have it in the bag.
I really wish Nikon had just remounted the 500PF in a Z mount rather than push out the 400 f4.5... I think I'd be keeping a converter permanently attached on the 400 S lens... a 400mm f6.3 produces a very different bokeh than an 800mm f6.3!

Has anyone heard if more units are shipping? I'm hearing nothing but crickets from my dealer.
Not a peep! I know people waiting also, maybe parts come from China and they had a covid problem recently so maybe that's holding things up? Just guessing.

The 500pf is my last remaining F-mount lens in use.
I was daydreaming of a 600pf f/5.6 that would end up around the same size as the 500pf with FTZii...
The 800pf is a wonderful lens, but I still find the 500pf sharper and quicker on autofocus at comparable reproduction ratios (~0.17x). Needs further testing, which I plan on doing. But, that 500pf was meant for the Z9. Such an incredible combo.

Interesting to read this, was expecting a bit more from the 800pf, autofocus speed isn't entirely surprising. If the 500pf is indeed sharper that is somewhat disappointing to me anyway, especially considering the price point of each lens. Some of the sample images I've seen looked pretty good from the 800pf but of course there could be sample variation

I would love to see a serious test of the 800PF vs the 500PF....it does seem like the 800PF lacks some crispiness but it's quite hard to tell since I've never shot it.
