Spent last weekend in Kanab and had an opportunity to visit Toadstool Hoodoos at sunset. Setting sunset light on red sandstone is something special. Here is a set of images taken from various vantage points during my visit. It's a small area to cover but with setting sunlight I had to move fairly quickly to capture various hoodoos around that area. Sorry posting 8 images from this outing.
Thanks for viewing and Welcome all CC
Toadstool Hoodoos - upon arrival as sun was going down
I like the last image the best. The two foreground plants make a line going to the right side, and the 3 major hoodoos draw the eye back in to the left side and then the background. Nice zig-zag pattern.
Really nice set @keepclicking, you made some wonderful compositions with gorgeous light. Kanab is one of my favorite places to set up camp, there is so much to explore and photograph in all directions from there that can keep me occupied for weeks at a time.
I am always amazed at how evening or morning light can transform the colors of desert sandstone into something special. A truly wonderful collection of images of this magical place that inspires the imagination to take flight. Great compositions and light work!
I like the set. The light and white balance in the first seems perfect.
I've been struggling lately with figuring out the WB in many pics and in particular the purple tint adjustment in Lightroom. Your 5th shot looks a little purple to me. I know that I'll get something "just right" and then look at the same picture a week later and think the WB is wrong. IDK. Just a thought.

This is an attractive set that shows off the difference the color of light makes
Morris
Thanks Morris, you are absolutely correct, the color changes as the light direction changes.

Outstanding set. Every image has something to recommend it. If I had to choose only one, it would be #5. Looks like you had a highly productive visit.
Thanks Rajan, Yes, it was very productive visit. The red glow from sunlight is just adorable and beautiful to watch. Got to visit White Pocket with some crazy winds and the highlight was winning lottery for Cayote Buttes South. Will post pictures later.

Nice set!!!
We love hoodoos!!!!
PS Did you go2 buckskin gulch?
Thank you, the original plan was to do wirepass and then continue on to Buckskin but we were able to secure walk in permits to Cayote Buttes South. So ended up doing that and it was amazing. Buckskin will have to wait for next trip.

Thanks Gordon, I never messed with white balance on this set. Then again each monitor is different so it's really hard. My biggest things when i look at an image a week later, i try to PP again with some small changes.
