I've had the privilege of a career as a conservationist and have been blessed to visit many African countries many times. But I haven't been to Madagascar for 15 years, and I miss it.
It doesn't have the tourist infrastructure of the more-visited destinations, and you'll spend a lot of time walking instead of riding in Land Rovers or Land Cruisers, but if you have the chance to visit Madagascar you'll create memories for a lifetime.
These were taken with the Nikon D2x I was shooting at the time...and sorry for the egregiously-blown highlights in the black-and-white ruffed lemur, but it's still a gorgeous animal!
This is an excellent set of images that looks at good as those taken with today's modern cameras. One of the thins that got my attention is the short focal lengths used for most with only a few at 400mm. It must have been a delight for you to review your old images and it was a joy for me to look at them.
You have a wonderful set of images here. Extreme challenges in lighting but all have a nice feel to them. I don't know if you posed the the family for the picture with the two huts but it really just is a wonderful example of the basic way of life and of family. Well done on all and thanks for sharing, your website has a great diversity of images to also enjoy!
Absolutely fantastic images.
The lemurs are on my list. However, I have absolutely no idea how to contact for planning a trip. If I may ask you for some help?

Also, for anyone else interested in Madagascar, one of the best ways to experience its wonders is to travel with an expert. Conservation groups often organize group trips, and they can be both incredibly exciting and revelatory.
The world's preeminent lemur conservationist and researcher is Dr. Patricia Wright, https://www.lemurreserve.org/about-lcf/experts/dr-patricia-wright/ , while the legendary Dr. Russ Mittermeier has seen more primates than anyone else in the world and has a passion for Madagascar https://www.rewild.org/team/russell-mittermeier-ph-d .
Both Pat and Russ are past winners of the Indianapolis Prize, the world's leading award for animal conservation. You could send an email to their organizations and ask to be notified if they run a trip to Madagascar.
Madagascar is definitely under the radar for a lot of folks, including myself as a wildlife destination. Wonderful images you captured there from some 14 years ago, zuman and thank you for sharing.
