Anyone out there have an issue with the firmware update causing a new problem?
It always worries me...
Thanks.
Well my Ravpower batteries no longer seem to work. Shows battery icon with red slash. I use a grip and have one set of OEM and one set Ravpower. I hate when they do this.....

Of course, it is a bit exaggerated but the fact remains that the Sony FW update is necessarily complicated and filled with potential missteps. Being that I have to go into the start-up disk and make kernel-level security changes to my laptop in order to update the firmware of my camera is evidence of extremely poor engineering decisions.
I don't think it's all that exaggerated. I know how to use computers and have for many years. I also recently transitioned to a macbook pro with an m1 max chip. The firmware update for my Sony a1 took an hour or more by the time I had to install the camera driver, make changes at the boot level and then install the firmware, which took probably more than 20 minutes by itself. It was a bit ridiculous. This should all be possible with a card update. Then Sony won't have to worry about keeping as current with OS updates and hardware changes.
And why did I have to just now update the firmware on my Sony A1. Well I bought it new last week and apparently the "new" body was pretty old as it shipped with the old firmware. Keep in mind the new firmware has been out since early December.
I dont have a Mac with an M1, just the Mac with intel (2018 model). My updater will not recognize the camera despite the camera showing in the finder folder. I cannot get it to work and cannot be more frustrated. never had this issue with any previous update.
Update: the download and update process is working perfectly on my super old, slow computer. Luckily I had it around as a backup.. Craziness.
