If it's in a softbox, no discernable difference at all. I'm sure someone will have a comparison picture of the diffuser that looks a bit different, but on the subject it's not worthwhile.
If bouncing, no difference at all.
If direct flash - your image is 3:2, which roughly matches the pattern from a rectangular speedlight. So no difference that matters.
It's the latest thing, looks cool, is harder to pack, costs more.
