Shooting 1200 handheld is not that easy, it can get shaky fast, so 2400 I would guess on a tripod ..

Next up, put it in crop mode, and see what kind of results you get.

Impressive photos and cool technical approach. Which monopod and head are you using?

I use a Gitzo GM4532 monopod and the Wimberley MH-100 Monogimbal head.

I wonder how that would work! That might be manual focus only.

It might AF in live view. IIRC, it's what I did with my 200-400, with the internal 1.4x engaged, and with the external 2x attached. This makes it an f/11 combo. But it was years ago. I would confirm this for you, but it appears I've misplaced my 2x (due to infrequent use)...

Amazing shots Alfonsus! Did my thread below have any inspiration to give this a try or have you been stacking extenders like that for awhile? I was never happy with extenders on DSLR's, but they seem to have a new life on mirrorless bodies.

Also curious, I love the color in the first shot the way it is. But have you tried to saturate it or change the WB so it resembles the look/feel of your second shot that has warm tones? It would be cool to see a comparison

I’ve known about the stacking for quite awhile, I just never found a perfect situation to use it before.

I’ve actually partially desaturated the first image as I felt like the tones were a bit too warm to start, and the noise after using two TCs was a bit of a mess.

Nice, I figured you desaturated it a bit since the 2nd one is much warmer.

Oh geeeez you forgot to flip the button and go crop mode for another 1.6x !

Not sure of the distance that the owl in the first but never would have guessed the setup as the results are spot on amazing. Nice looking presentation, both shots
