The second one is my favorite. My favorite thing about Sedona is feeling surrounded by that beautiful red rock and the way you framed it makes me feel like I could reach out and touch it.

I love your composition, and I love the light. There are both striking.
I would have not chosen the process your first image as you did. what bothers me is the brightness of the rocks around where the sun is coming out. its as if they are front lit and not back lit. there has to be a very bright light source shining on them from the front. I am all for pulling up the shadows in the foreground to reveal more detail, which I think you have done very well, except in the first image around the sun.
Yes thank you for your feedback. I agree and in later versions of this photograph I have toned that portion down, unfortunately I've noticed that Flickr is really weird about replacing images with embeds on third party sites so I can't replace the photograph on Flickr with an updated one without breaking the photograph on here (it's weird, I don't fully understand it and I am not willing to try haha).

Beautiful! How did you manage to not get any people in your shots at this usually overcrowded spot?!
I did have one group of hikers watch the sunrise with me, but thankfully they were respectful and did not get in my shot. It was a holiday weekend too so I was surprised there wasn't more people there.
Beautiful! The first must be printed large on metal! I disagree with Jeffery - they look fabulous on my large monitor to see in all their glory, thanks for the big images.
Beautiful!
We went last week, but sadly not for photography. And by 8:30 am the sighs were out that the lots were full. The pluses of getting there before sunrise. Which now as you know is getting earlier as the days pass.
