All breathtaking, but that night shot is my favorite of the set!
Thank you very much. It was scary as heck! The power and then the sound coming through the bowl of the crater... Really scary! 😳

Would love to see that night shot processed with some natural sky glow and star color. Its just so cold (and unreal looking, to me). Lovely set!
Thank you! I must have been in a blue mood! 😊 I'll consider another shot at the processing... 👍🏼

Excellent stuff Mark, now you need to round it out with an untracked deep fresh snow just following a major storm set.
Many years the epic snow happens around first week of January. Seems like you're used to working the weather and waiting for the right opportunity, so should be a good fit.
I lived in Bend for some years and would chase the thunderstorm projections...

Hallelujah, glory indeed! Way to hunt down the spectacular light and weather conditions Mark.
Best,

Thank you Ross. I agree. Glory! Although our skill is obviously involved (and the human is a masterpiece of art) the art is already there and I pretty much see myself as some level of just a dummy who tries to point a little box at glorious art that already exists, with the goal of sharing a bit of it with others. ✌🏼 🙏🏼 😄

Oh cool Mark, I was a staff photographer at The Bulletin in Bend 1988-1995, great town! Much changed now though.

I really like this thought you expressed. As noted we do bring skill and creativity to the making of landscape compositions, but at the heart of it we are humbled by knowing the art is already there and we are hugely blessed to be stewards of it.
