Memorial Stadium home of the Fighting Illini in Champaign IL. Link contains full size photos for 24-105G, 24-70 DG DN, and 28-75 G2 at max apperature and f/8.
The 24-70 DN is the clear winner among the lens copies I have. For some reason the 24-70 DN front focuses at 50mm. I need to check if it does that at portrait distances.
Overall I'm pretty impressed by the detail captured by all the lenses.

The G2 is definitely an improvement in every category. I had the G1, replaced it with the Sigma 24-70DG DN. The Sigma was too (front) heavy, I sold it. This G2 is as sharp as the Sigma, with a similar rendering, in a lighter package (more enjoyable).
Some good macro capabilities.
Sunstars are quite well defined too (at 28mm f/16), for a zoom lens

I am really enjoying the images I'm getting from this lens. I'm going to be putting my 35GM on the b/s boards and just keep my 24/50 primes for when I don't want/need a zoom, but otherwise this Tamron is gonna be my baby.

Just picked up a like new copy of the G2 28-75/2.8 for five hundred bucks and so far very pleased. Sharpness looks great throughout the range and it is noticeably better balanced, lighter, and smaller than my Sony 24-70 GMII.

My 17 month old nephew engaging in some wooden toy swordplay at a Renaissance festival yesterday. The 28-75/2.8 G2 was a pleasant walkaround companion.
