p.1 #1 · Tammy

Hi all,

Would like to post a few pictures of a friend of ours.

Tammy had been battling a brain tumor over several years. She had regained much of her life due to multiple surgeries. Unfortunately the latest one was aggressive and malignant.

Picture one was taken three weeks ago.

In picture two we had received a call from her husband telling us she was unresponsive. When we arrived her breathing was forced almost as if she was on a ventilator, her body in life support mode. She passed shortly after we left. She was 48 and left behind four children and a loving husband.

I wish that I had captured more pictures of her during better times. I will also remember not to take life or loved ones for granted.

Life is precious and having been through this battle myself, I have learned to appreciate life each and every single day! It has changed my perspective of life for ever🙏

Condolences for your loss.

These hit home for me ... I just went through the last several weeks with someone going through those kind of battles that have you hanging on to every moment, not knowing which way or if. Fortunately, the battling resulted in a return home. More recovery to go, but ... back home.

Your pictures will be cherished in the years to come.

Thank you both. Death forces us to focus on our own mortality and priorities.

Thank Daniel,
I appreciate the well wishes.

If there is any critique on the photographs have at 'er. This is a photography website after all. I am always seeking to improve.
#2 I made the decision to leave blown out window to associate it with light from heaven. My wife looking down on her directs viewer to Tammy's brighter face. I left the arm ring in for a triangle effect instead of cropping.

Shots were taken in a small room and candid due to nature of the situation.

I will cherish these photos regardless.

I think your choice to blow the highlights in the window was the right choice. I don't believe that a technically "perfect" photo should be the goal of a portrait, especially ones such as these. Conveying of a feeling should come paramount to anything else, and you have done just that.

Sorry I couldn't offer more of a critique, but I honestly wouldn't change anything about these photos.

Just found some negatives sitting in my briefcase. Decided to scan and convert to digital with camera.
This is an early 90's pic of Tammy visiting us in Montreal at the time. Figured I should add this to this thread. Thanks.

Yes extremely sorry for your loss!
We lost an Aunt at 97yrs old from covid last month. Her family would not take the vaccine nor allow her to get it.
She passed 65 miles from her home with no one there because no hospital beds here.
Again condolences!!!!
Dan
