I've been hiking high Sierra Nevada recently looking for a few more shots (of trees) before all major trails close. Fall is pretty much over (colors in Sierra Nevada), so I decided to hit a remote location and hike a few miles at around 12K feet elevation to shoot Bristlecone Pines. At this elevation temp dropped to sub-freezing, but that wasn't really a big problem and I was prepared for that. The problem was the wind. It was very strong up there, and temp of 30F felt like -30F.
But with some effort and interesting clouds in the sky I was able to get several shots of much less seen/photographed Bristlecones....
Gregg, your images are just spectacular. The light is special and you definitely caught some nice clouds. I was up there past weekend and got nothing close to what you got. I did the simple discovery trail. YGMV👍🏻

I was there on Friday. I did check the weather forecast before I went, and it looked promising. Get the weather app (PM privately if you wanna know what I'm using) and go when the app shows you good high clouds coverage.
