It has been said, 'it's better to be lucky than good'. I disagree, it's better to be good-n-lucky

Excellent shots. The one of the kingfisher with the leaf is quite unique.

Thanks Gordon. I saw it come up with a leaf two different times.

Lots of great shots! I especially like the diving shots.
Geoff, man, these are some amazing frames, given how fast I know these Kingfishers are... Love them all, particularly those with the open wings... TFS...

Superb. How much cropping?
cheers,

Thanks....let's just say I'm making good use of the 50MPs for most of them
Obviously, the cropping amount varies a fair amount between all these images.
If you want to get an idea you can go to my Flickr site and find some of these images in my Photostream. You can click on the Download link and click View All Sizes. The highest dimensions shown there will be the final crop dimensions I did in LR. Only if the final crop was larger than the Flickr 6K res will you not see what it is as it doesn't show the Original dimensions to the public (as I have downloading disabled). But I'm fairly certain all of these will be within the 6K option or less so you should be seeing the final crop dimensions listed next to the highest resolution option.

My what an amazing set!! So many absolutely stunning shots. I love the lighting , the pose and the reflection in the first. The one with the leaf has to be quite special and unique. Truly stunning and very enjoyable.

Just outstanding Geoff. Great skill getting these shots. I am also guessing it took a lot of work finding the locations and also a lot of patience - I find Kingfishers to be so skittish - so I am also guessing waiting in the right spot for the right time must have been a test of endurance as well as skill.
Thanks Bob, yes there was a lot of staying in one place and staying very still.
