p.1 #1 · The Dolomites in monochrome

Don't get me wrong, colours are great, but to me there just is something special in the graphic power of a B&W Fine Art landscape. Here two Dolomites landscape with human elements in them:

Hasselblad X1D II, Voigtlander Super-Wide Heliar 15mm. 181 sec.

Leica SL, Super-Vario-Elmar-SL 16-35mm. 150 sec.

Comments & critiques welcome. Best regards,

Vieri

The first one is amazing. Clouds were moving like crazy and grass was dead still . Did you help the clouds to move, Vieri?

Fantastic photos!

My only small suggestion, and it may be a matter of taste, is the darkening of the left mountain peaks in the second image. This happens to me in these cases when I increase the clarity, and it can take a good deal of adjusting to get how I like it.

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the first one! Actually, the clouds were moving but slowly, I needed a 181 seconds exposure to create the moving effect!

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed them! About your suggestion, I never use the clarity slider at all, actually. All mountain peaks seems to be of the same tonality on my monitor, I don't see the left ones to be darker than the rest.

The long exposure cloud movement adds to the composition nicely on the first one.

Fine work, Vieri. I agree and find myself seeking B/W opportunities more often.

Very nice --- I need to go visit the Dolomites and keep B/W in mind - this really works even with the man made stuff in foreground.

Great job. Scott

Vieri,

Fantastic set - both are really impressive. The extreme long exposure of the first, with the leading line adding to the composition make it very special. For some reason though I am just a teeny bit more partial to the second one. I personally also do not see any tone imbalance in the peaks on my monitor either. Just crisp detail with a breathtaking vista, and just the right amount of cloud drama added in,

Really wonderful work, as always!

Hey Mike,

Thank you very much for your detailed comment and kind words, so happy you liked them! I love them both, for different reasons; they both are my kids in a way, but I definitely see your point re: both!

Best regards,

Boero
