p.1 #1 · RP and 24-240 won't focus to infinity.

I kind of feel like I have some setting wrong, but I can't imagine what it would be.

The camera focuses and takes sharp images just fine out to a certain distance, and then it just won't focus.

And it will certainly not focus to infinity.

If I switch to manual focus, the slider on the bottom of the display does move all the way to infinity, but the image itself is not focused.

Any ideas?

PS. I should add that my Sigma 100-400 focuses just fine on the RP.

Sounds like you have a severely misaligned element in the lens, or more likely there's something wrong with the focus motor and it's getting stuck.

Yeah it's probably a mechanical defect.

I'm going to try to update the firmware...

OK...updated the firmware from 1.03 to 1.06 - no luck.

I contacted Canon for a warranty repair/repalcement.

Hi OP,
Are you able to find solution for this issue. I ran into this problem very often. When I focus at 240mm, RP doesn't focus from de-focus state. Workaround is, zoom it to 200mm and focus on the subject. When i zoom out to 240mm, it can focus this time. i sent it to Canon. Canon is not able to replicate issue but they fine tuned the focus system on Lens and Camera. I received lens and RP back from Canon. Going to test it and see how it is going to work.

I sent it in for repair and it's working fine. Not sure what the actual problem was.
