The Eastern Sierras provide a multitude of photographic opportunities. And then, there are the "must see" locations.
Convict Lake, slightly south of Mammoth Mt, is one of the "must see", and soak it all in locations. Before I left for my first trip to the eastern side of the Sierras in Oct. 2016, I was encouraged to visit this gem. I arrived about a hour before sunrise to scout this unfamiliar location, and was lucky to find this viewing spot. Waiting for the morning light, it wasn't long before a number of other photographers, many part of photography workshops, began arriving in vans. Since I set up my tripod on the point of a small rocky outcropping, a march of legs and tripods immediately headed my way_ like they thought I had secret local knowledge. Fortunately, the leader called them over to shoot from a small railed deck, leaving me my special place. It worked out for all of us, as there no location at this lake that doesn't afford a beautiful photo.
The tree lined shore provided a colorful Fall season wreath around the lake's perimeter. As an added bonus, the hike around the lake, during this time of year, provides a visual spectacle while walking through Aspen shrouded pathways.

I've been to Convict Lake in summer and fall. I have to say, you found extraordinary light, and succeeded in capturing it beautifully. Very well done.
Thank you for your comment.
Yes, I was lucky to get this light, and since then, I have returned every year since 2016, and have not been able to shoot a similar scene due to wind, clouds, rain and all the other natural phenomenon that can impact an outdoor shot. But I persist.
