If it were up to me there would be an optional eyepiece available that is those large circular type with with a deep soft rubber extension that would allow one to easy place their naked eye up to it completely cutting out the light. Much like Panasonic and Nikon have offered in the past. I'd bet dollars to donuts no such thing will be released by anyone for the R5 like this however. Sadly

Unfortunately, I think you're right. The fact that the eyecup is held in place with two teeny screws, I highly doubt anyone such as Hoodman releasing an eyecup. This would be a downfall for videographers or those who wear glasses.

There's no reason for the screws to stop someone. They easily came out with the Phillips 000 bit in my iFixIT kit. They could just included a tiny screwdriver with the eye cup. I have some USB hard drive enclosures that came with tiny screws and a cheap driver so they can't be that expensive in quantity from China. The lack of a Hoodman eye cup is my biggest problem with the R6.

I need to get me a kit. The one I have is for consoles and they are just a wee bit too big for the screws.
Maybe the concern is maybe making sure its secure enough? Or they just feel its not worth it.
My concern if I did the 3D printed eyecup extender is making sure the OEM eyecup stays on the extender. One can easily reuse the screws to attach the eyecup to the extender. Attaching the extender to the camera can be done via friction and making it slightly snug. But one slight bump and it may pop off and everything is missing.
I think if a company was to make one, they would of done it by now. Unless they're waiting to see if other Canon cameras uses the same eyecup setup? Tooling/molds does cost money. So they could be waiting to see if others will be the same instead of making various version for each camera.
Based on the pictures alone, they are not the right ones. The first link doesn't even have a picture of the R5 and is some older camera. The second link shows the eyecup with a latch system similar to the DSLRs which the R5 and R6 does not.

Yeah I'm sure the lack of 3rd party products is purely economic. The screws are wood/sheet metal type screws and go straight into holes in OEM eye cup. Hoodman does make eyecups for Nikon and Sony mirrorless but has ignored Canon. The actual rubber part of the Hoodman eye cup comes off of the part that attaches to the camera. If someone 3d printed the hard part for an R6, you could pop Hoodman's rubber piece on.
