These images of Short-eared Owls, Northern Harrier and Rough-legged Hawk were all taken on one outing, a rather good day!
I was particularly chuffed with the last shot; this Rough-legged Hawk had landed not too far away, so after I got the obligatory perched shots, I took the 1.4 extender off and changed my camera settings for a flight shot. To my utter elation, it flew towards me at eye level, for a perspective I doubt I will ever achieve again.
Very nice images, Colin, and insane closeups in #8 and #20! Rough-legged hawks are very skittish around here and stay very far away - awesome that they are more cooperative where you are!

I was just processing some of my photos of House Sparrows from yesterday when I decided to take a break and see what was being posted on FM.
And then I saw these! Now I don't want to sound ungrateful, but why would you do that to me when I'd been working so hard to find a few keepers among my pretty little Sparrows?
Seriously though, you've produced an exceptional set. You're also continuing to give me hope that someday my photographs will soar like yours.
A stunning set with all the photograph's needs, light, bokeh postures and so on. The combo with A9 and 600GM makes the job ....but for sure you will handle with experience! Voted for sure Colin.
Super set. I love the gradient in the background of the first image. The detail in 8 is super and that is always fun to see. All are good and the lighting in the last few is super.
