I learned that the scientific name for the fluffy dandelion ball is capitulum. As much fun as it is for the kids to blow, I encourage them to only play that game at the park! I thought I had the dandelions under control last season with natural measures, but they are back in force this year!

Thanks Danpbphoto! I shot it using a 55mm f/3.5 Micro-NIKKOR lens that I've had for a really long time, and as best I can tell, it's a pre-AI lens from the early 70's that was modified to be used on newer Nikon bodies. It always amazes me the images I get from the lens given its age and simple optical design.

My 180mm Macro Canon is going on 20 years and still is my "go to" macro lens!!!!
Old doen't necessarily mean "outdated"!
Again great image!!
