I am about to get tired of shooting hummers but they are so darn cute! Got some cuphea flowers and hummers love them. From this morning.
Enjoy the hummers while you can. Here winter is just 6 weeks away and my Salvia hasn't even bloomed yet haha!
I'm at the point where I just sit (NO camera) and just watch them. Amazing little creatures.

The 3rd one is dynamite! Wonder why the swallows touched the water? Were they catching bugs on the water surface?
These young ones seemed to just be either bathing or just having fun They didn't seem to have a bug as their target as the adults often do and then just pick it off the surface. It was interesting as for about 15mins the whole flock of juveniles did this and then it was over for the rest of the time I stayed there.
This is similar behavior to what I've been seeing the young (presumed due to plumage) kingfishers do. I posted some images a while back where they'd skim the water and then just plunge in horizontally resulting in them flipping around wildly. I don't think they were trying to catch fish in that manner but who knows??
