Okay, this is my 3rd (and likely final attempt) at this same spot, this morning. I finally got some good light but I will let you judge whether I need to move on to another location or season or time of day.
Comments and feedback are appreciated.

Oh my Scott!!!!!
Spectacular images!!! The sun highlighted just on the side of the mountain top is really fine!
The season is fine and the location appears to be "top shelf"! Winter and mountains...can't go wrong!!

I like to see someone going back to the same spot until you are satisfied with the image. Years ago I went back and back to the same Texas wildflowers location and finally got what I wanted and ended up with a nice Texas Highways magazine cover.
I like them both for different reasons. The first is a very nice view of the area while the second feels more intimate and colorful. Both are winners!

Glad you like both of them. The joy in photography is ever perfecting the same locations - better camera, better time, better clouds - I love being outdoors with similarly inclined people. Every spare day in my youth I was trapping, canoeing, fishing, camping, xx skiing and I did not think about why. Photography is the catalyst to do what I did as a boy with a purpose. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

I like both of these equally. Yes, the portrait version is very nice, but in the landscape version I love the greater expanse of snow in the picture and the detail around the edges. If these were mine, I'd have to frame both of them to hang on my wall!
