It was awfully nice of this kite to land on this perfect perch and make sure the light was hitting him just right. Awesome images, Joshua!!
Thank you very much, OSP!
I was shooting for some mid-air food transfer actions from the middle of a field. At the first indication of this guy making a detour, I ran towards the edge of the field, ducked under the fence and ran closer to the perch. That’s why I missed the first few images of him approaching the perch in those precious seconds. The point I am trying to make is I had to relocate to get those shots. Luckily, my harness camera support helped me being mobile and still got some steady images.
BTW, I saw him do that before. So, I did get some practice in getting those images.

Images #2 and 5 are 'killer'! I'm envious of your access to these raptors.
Thank you very much, John! I consider myself pretty fortunate having a few raptors within striking distance.

2, 5, 6 and 8 are my favorites of this bird I don't get to see around here. Want to swap a snowy owl for a white-tailed kite?
Morris
Thank you very much, Morris! If we could swap to get more variety, I would love to do so... .

Great stuff Joshua, I love your behavioral observations. My favorite is #2, love the profile and beautiful eyes. I can hear my mother in the background saying chew your food, don’t wolf it down.
Dave
Thank you very much, Dave! Haha, my mother did the same when I was little.

You nail the focus, light and more importantly a set of images with a story to tell with the images (not just portrait style images).

Wow-great story and a great sequence of photos. From the length of the tail and overall size of the prey it looks like a rat? Any idea what he was eating?

Thank you very much, Ken! Yes, it is a vole. That male WTK caught 3-4 voles a day and as a great dad, he brought the prey home to feed the family first until the end of the day. That was his time to enjoy the well-deserved meal.
