It's the 15th of the Chinese lunar month.. and that means it's a full moon.
100-400 + 1.4x TC + tape trick + cropped @ 896mm.
I tried the same thing hand held with a 200mm and 1.4x and it turned out nowhere near as nice as yours. What is the ideal settings for shooting the moon?
taping the contacts tricks the camera into thinking it has an aperture f5.6 or larger so autofocusing can work, or something like that.
This shot was f8 (actually f11) but I hadn't used any compensation though correcting it (at +1) blew out the details of the moon itself.
Yes, as Chris said, the tape trick is just to allow the autofocus to work though it didn't work all that well but well enough but it won't compensate for the 1 stop loss you've got with the 1.4x TC so getting it back to where it is suppose to be, you'll have to dial in +1 on the exposure compensation.
Great shot there too Chris though I'm not too flash about that one with the 2 guy's head blurred out. "Maybe" try (I'm talking about of my head) to take a shot where you follow the head and the rest of the stage blurred. "Might" be a good shot
