It was a wicked tract 12 years ago when I raced there and I doubt things have changed except the surface.

I loved Oran due to it's tecnical nature of setup , get it right and you rule the roost get it only just and you can come unstuck BIG TIME.

Mozz

PS I may be at the Zoo still unsure. !!

I wouldn't mind having a go at Oran Park... But I rarely hear of an open day like Wakefield Park.

Oran park is now owned by the state government and might be turned into a house and land package developement. Oran park sounds good for a photo meet.

I thought it was a done deal that Oran Park is turning into a housing development? There's nothing out that way anyway.. why would you live so far away from the nearest shop/facilities?

What lens did you use for these photos?? What focal length? Is 400mm long enough?

the car shot where taken with 70-200
1st 1/160th f16 iso 200 @ 200mm
2nd 1/125th f16 iso 200 @ 150mm
zoo shot's..
lion 1/100 f 3.2 iso 400 @175mm
meerkat.. 1/200 f5.6 iso 400 @ 330mm 70-200 with 2x tele
so your answewr to is 400mm enough i'd say yes for most places plus these where on a 1.6 body so that helps.....
and oran park is already set to close it's doors so 90.000 homes can built in that area in the near future.....
hey chris_s will have to catch up at oran should be a fun day with a few of us out there....

right, thanks for info

The meerkat shot is my favourite!!

Yeah, the panning shots are great, I don't have the talent myself to get it right with a tele lens...

I just checked my calendar and the All Ford day is also 31st July at Warrick Farm Racecourse. About 1000 Fords from the classics to the modern stuff will be on display.

That is the same day as the Zoo trip so I may have to leave around lunch to make both events.

"Smelly" , When do you want to come down here as there is a spare spot on the couch in front of the fire.

We'll be away in Sydney from the 3rd to the 5th of August. But after that dependant on Anne's dramas. We could organise a backcountry treck for photo's after that.

You know.. I think we should all go down during summer for a spot of trout fishing and photography too. I've never been down during summer or spring when things start to blossom.

You just don't want to get caught in blizzard conditions and end up with cold feet. .

I have heard about that one happening in summer... not nice... but it'd just be blowy.... I remember going to Talbingo and the lake that's right there looked great for a spot of fishing and to breathe in fresh air.

When is the best time to head down there and things start blooming? Oct when the snow has almost melted?
