p.2 #1 · Maiden flight of a female juvenile peregrine falcon
Wonderful set of images and a great experience to have.
Years ago I was able to spend considerable time watching a bald eagles nest but nothing like what you described. Getting to see the juveniles being fed by parents to starting to learn the first steps of flight - unfortunately I was not able to see the bald eagle chicks on their initial flight, so a little jealous.
p.2 #5 · Maiden flight of a female juvenile peregrine falcon
Fantastic sequence Joshua. Beautiful detail and your usual lovely backgrounds. Love the first shot. You can see the concentration in her eyes, and she is totally oblivious to her sibling having to duck.

Thank you very much, Tim! Yes, it was a wonderful experience. I am being honest here, had that not been for the favorable traffic conditions during the pandemic, I would have not been able to witness the complete progress starting from the parents courting until the chicks left the nest.

Dave
Dave, I truly appreciate your kind words! Yes, that juvenile peregrine falcon just focused on getting airborne. Prior to this she practiced by hopping or low flying from one ledge to the other without being airborne.

What an incredible story and photos Joshua! I feel you on the traffic situation, similar (although not as bad) up here in NorCal.

I appreciate your kind comment, Mark! Yes, I we will see how the impact of the pandemic on the traffic conditions after it is truly over. Of course, there are a lot situations where you have to be physically present at your work but I am pretty sure that the work-from-home practice will be more acceptable to a lot of employers. And that will help reducing the heavy traffic conditions some.

What is that cryptical "ILCE-9M2"? Is there an English translation somewhere?
Nice shots, btw.
Thank you very much, Slobodan! As I mentioned on my PM and also mentioned by @lotuselite, the ILCE-9M2 stands for interchangeable lens camera A9 II made by Sony.

What a terrific experience for you, Joshua, and great photos of a maiden flight! It must have been very satisfying to se her fly off after you watched these falcon chicks from egg to adulthood.

Thank you very much, Shirley! Both my granddaughter and I watched and enjoyed the development of peregrine falcon chicks in the campanile at UC Berkeley you shared back then. Those over there were some 2-3 weeks more developed than the ones I photographed here.
