Yes I'd agree with that one as well. I still have my LTM mount 35/1.7 together with an SC- mount and an LTM 50/1.5

Sadly, I don't think that one is going to happen. Didn't they discontinue it even for M-mount? I think we are going to have to live with the CV 35 f/1.2 III for E-mount, which is a very nice lens, but not the small package of the CV 35 f/1.7.

Yes, they replaced the 35/1.7 for the 35/2 Ultron with rough rendering. Go figure.

Voigtlander's Leica M mount lens "APO-LANTHAR 50mm F2 Aspherical VM" will be announced soon.#噂
This will probably solidify my commitment to get a Leica M camera. The difference between price and performance of the Leica M 50 f/2 APO and the Voigtlander 50 f/2 APO (i.e., very similar performance but a huge difference in price) made it hard for me to think about repurchasing my Leica M system that was stolen. With this lens, however, I can imaging a Leica M10 with a CV 15 f/4.5 III, Leica M 21 f/3.4, Leica M 28 f/2, CV 35 f/1.2 III, CV 50 f/2 APO, CV 75 f/1.5, and Leica M 90 f/4 macro kit that would be fairly reasonably priced with very small and excellent glass. Just replacing the Leica M 50 f/2 APO with the CV 50 f/2 APO would reduce the cost about 25% for the whole kit (and that is buying used, it is an even bigger reduction if you bought new).

Oh yeah, it's dead. And yes, discontinued in m-mount. Interesting enough, the CV 35 1.7 never seem to take off, despite the excellent technical IQ and fairly smooth rendering in such a small package and reasonable price. There is something a bit flat in the colors and rendering I alway found, and I guess others have too. Regardless, I used one for years and it's not really a lens you can fault.
I was hopefully though for a couple years we'd get the ZM 35 1.4 and the CV 35 1.7, which would still be very attractive as native lenses. But I gave up.

In 2020 Cosina have signalled a reversion to being primarily a Leica M lens maker, with just the two macros in Sony E mount only. The M users get the 50/1.5, the 50/3.5 and the 75/1.5 for themselves alone, with no Sony equivalents. All are very much character lenses, which Cosina associates more with Leica M use.
The 110mm was a modern revival of the 125/2.5 from 2004, leaving only the 65/2 as 'our' Voigtlander lens. We just got lucky getting the Leica-intended designs plus the limited scope heavy macros; they have made the decision about their 'back to the future' direction, going into the 20s.
The chances of more Sony E lenses from them just receded significantly (IMO), either in the form of high end wide angles, portrait telephotos or conversions of, for example, the 75/1.5. And the SE f1.2 lenses for Sony look more like Sigma lenses, while the M versions retain the traditional crafted scallop designs.
Fun to speculate - while it lasted. It could herald the finish of high end, right-sized manual focus lenses for Sony users, also seen in the zombie status Loxia line. The siren song of autofocus is overwhelming. A shame.

I think Cosina keep releasing new E-mount glass every year but their M-mount glass sales have improved relative to E-mount in the last 1-2 years perhaps because other mirrorless FF users buying and adapting them too. Bestselling CV M-mount glass in Japan is still by far the 40/1.4. In E-mount it's 50/2, 65/2, 35/1.4 classic, 40/1.2 SE. There might be more emphasis on VM releases going forward but I think E-mount will also keep getting new releases. Might be harder to come up with very unique and bestselling E-mount offerings now due to more competition though.
Personally I've recently bought the 40/1.2 SE and 50/1.2 SE to convert my original versions to smaller/lighter size for my A7C use. I'm enjoying the whole trio of SE lineup on the A7C quite a lot.

If they release a high IQ + somewhat compact 28mm E-mount, they would be alone in the game! Hard to believe this is not obvious.
While at it, port the same design to M-mount to accommodate for the thinner sensor as a replacement to the CV 28/2 Ultron which I think is a good lens but could be improved.
