p.1 #1 · Back at it

I busted out some older photos to edit since we're still quarantined...and have been playing around with a different editing style. I'd love some feedback - it's been really fun to do, but an objective take on it is something I'm lacking.

I did drag my daughter to the studio to shoot the last photo today - she's become quite the good sport about it!

Wait until she learns about modeling fees!
Some very nice work! I like the editing style. It's very classic and matches the outfits, scenes, etc. On #2 watch out for cropping at joints like the elbow. In this case I don't think it hurts the image. If you could show the complete elbow, it would add a bit more. Just a thought.

Dawn..these are fantastic images all! Now I notice that all have a "hazy, smokey" look to them. These terms are in place for what the proper term should be. I just can't remember what that term is.

This is NOT to demean them at all. I know not what your end result was in processing them so I won't remark otherwise but they look well done to me!

I also noticed the "haze" across all of the images.

I am sure it was on purpose, but it looks "off" to me, as if they need an adjustment in the contrast setting.

Not sure why you would do this purposefully, perhaps some insight on your process would help to clarify.

Otherwise, they look to be brilliant images.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments!

The haze was on purpose...the look is supposed to be "painterly" - but if it doesn't come across that way, I'll reasses!

Here's an edit that's hazy and not so hazy. Have a preference?

Both 2 and 3 are great, but #2 is my personal preference for this image. The hazy look doesn't work for everything, but in this case I think it's a good choice.

For me, the right most images on both sets are epic and much better.

For the painterly effect, I think it would work if some texture was added... I am not well versed in that PP method, though.

I like the originals better than any edits afterwards.

Where did you get those magical backdrops from?

I prefer the non-haze photos but the haze ones do have more characters in them
