I have not tried to replicate it. But it happens to me at least once a backpacking trip. So it must not sleep. Either that or it wakes unexpectedly. My 5dsr requires a press of the button to wake. And it shuts down after a brief period to sleep if I don't press a button. I have m5 on conserve energy.

Just doing street photography I am getting somewhere around 350 shots to go from 100% to 40%. My shots per minute are usually pretty low since I am taking in a scene or letting something unfold while waiting to take the shot with the viewfinder active. I am using 60 FPS and 15 second all screen shut off
