I have never regretted selling a zoom. Once they're gone, it's just like, whatever. Primes? Yeah.. a lot. I miss the 200 f/2, Zeiss 135/2, 58 1.4G, Noct 58 1.2, 85 1.4D, Leica 35 1.4, 50 1.4 ASPH, etc. Primes tend to have individual character compared to zooms.

I'm planing to buy 28/1.4E again!
Sometimes you have to walk away from something to know how much it really meant to you. Just be glad it's a lens and not a partner
With that said, if you have the opportunity to keep both, I think the advice from Lance was still very good and you may find yourself loving that lens with more time. It really is excellent.

Couldn't agree more. Zooms are easier to find used. Used primes, not so much.
If you could get $1300/1400 for the 28mm 1.4E I’d sell it. The sad truth is the values of that lens have cratered. I just passed on a mint copy on the boards that sat for 3/4 weeks for $800. For $700/$800 I’d keep it. That lens is amazingly sharp.

Wow! It sounds so sad! For example, this lens is a very rare thing in Russia still. So there is still no second hand market for them. And that case I was able to sell it was an extraordinary thing.
But I would love to buy this lens in a mint copy for $800. Simply because it can't be possible here.
