On the B&W ones, she tends to bleed into the background.

The comment about BG bleed is similar in regard to my point about the foliage. I saw the mono's similarly, just didn't mention it ... as to me the color overpowering seemed more evident.
Concern and care to how much draw is given to the relationship between subject and background / environment is valid ... even if subjective. Not sure the snark about "show him how to do it" offers any assistance to the OP.
Again, not to take away from the good that is exhibited, but as a potential consideration to take the good to good+.
The OP can decide for himself if the observations are useful to his (present or future) purpose(s). But, the honest observations (even if unpopular) remain valid, imo.
though there are images that are imperfect one can give advice and ideas on how to improve the image. some seem to be lacking that "educational” capability. So show and tell doesn’t work either. It is so much easier to accept from those who demonstrate.
