...even closing its eyes halfway

. This peregrine falcon chick landed right there quite close from my position. I had to zoom out to get this composition and I am glad I had that zoom lens on the body then at that time.

Thank you very much, Dan! I haven't seen you for quite sometime; I believe it was at the burrowing owl site in the fall last year. Or was that at SJWS for cedar wax wings? Two falcon families are quite active right now. They were quite active in the morning yesterday.

That is a crazy, cool shot Joshua. The zoom can be a shot maker at times....always trade offs....but this time it worked out very well.

Thank you very much, Bob! No, not for this particular image, you don't. It would have been too long... More often than not though, the longer the better for bird photography. And for sure, the best lens is what you have on your camera when something happens.

Thank you very much, Geoff and yes, you are right on the money. I have been more impressed with that lens lately than in the beginning though, even for BIF.

This is stunning...
The moment captured is so unique. I love the tight framing and the ability to see the "expression" of the falcon w/ its eyes half closed. I also love your compositional choice with the head tilted into the negative space...

I love bird photos like these, as they have a Zen quality to them
