I'm hoping there will be a lens profile for this lens soon. There's definitely distortion at the wide end and vignetting at the long end as well. Not a big deal, considering the versatility of this lens. It's truly a Swiss Army Knife of a lens!
Thanks Jonathan,
I downloaded a lot of it yesterday and played with it in CaptureOne.
Can`t complain, becouse it`s "all-in-one" lens... but I`ll stick to small/cheap primes.
Mine's coming in next week, already ordered a IR filter for it and it'll be my BW and also the lens I keep mounted when family want to borrow my camera/or to learn. Not expecting 24-105 quality since my copy of that was stellar, but nowadays I use a lot of the AI based software in addition to C1 as my starting point so I'm fairly excited about the range/weight/IQ ratio.
I shot a family camp for parents/children of fallen soldiers this past Thurs thru Sunday.
I had not used the recently delivered 28-200 and went into it intending to use just the all in one unless i hated what I was seeing in-camera.
End result, it did phenomenal. It's sharp and the bokeh is very pleasing for the "convenience" lens that it is and advertises itself as. Everything was shot with A7rIV jumping back and forth between Full Frame and Crop Mode via C1 button.

My guess is most people don't judge lenses solely based on images posted here. I mean how could you they are not even 2 mp's.

You are most probably a German, right?
I suggest you go to the German "DSLR Forum" where you get scolded when you upload an edited photo - the paradise of the OOC believer :-D
The first three show the lens at 28mm, 200mm, and 200mm in crop mode on an A7RIII, to give you an idea of the coverage and reach at each end. The last one just shows off some interesting red sky at the water line!
flare resistance good (this is with UV filter, usually there is ugly green blob with even nicer lenses but minimal here) ORP07791 by Visual Novel, on Flickr
The 200mm range on the Tamron is so sharp (for a super zoom)! I never liked super zooms because there was usually a major compromise in the design. The Tamron is compromised as well, but more like a well-balanced, but practical sports car!

Great detail there Jonathan. Bet you were really happy when after years of it empty for whatever they were doing to it, they filled up the actual lake again. I'm just up the 5 from you in Burbank and should be receiving this lens soon to pair with 7rIII and with 7s II. Most of my lenses are Sony or Zeiss and a couple great legacy A mount Minoltas. But I expect this Tamron lens from what I've seen on line now with the images to continue my great luck with third party E mount now following 6 months ago acquiring the Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 DG DN zoom. Which replaced my Zeiss 24-70 2.8 A mount lens having to be used with LA-EA3 adaptor.

I wish I had bought in the Silver Lake area years ago, I'm priced out at this point! Last I was looking it was a bidding war for every property! Saying that, I've been jogging the walking path quite often over the years and bring my kids there as well.
The Tamron isn't a fancy lens, but it does a bit of everything fairly well. On the more forgiving 24mp FF sensor the images come out nicely. I just wish some of my shooting gigs weren't cancelled, it would of made an excellent lens for the theater productions and event work I cover.
After shooting with it for the last few weeks, my only request is that they release a lens profile to correct the minor distortion at the wide end and slight vignetting on the long end. I also owned the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 FE lens, and while decent, I find the 28-200mm more fun to shoot with!
Pressed the Button and got one of these, got out yesterday A7III and did some test shots, very happy it is as good as the reports. Here are some to check..
Just got the 28-200 lens today and I only had time to shoot a few portraits after work. Didn't plan to shoot portraits with the lens, but it does the job.
