After my daughter's wedding, where I as FoTB was forbidden on pain of eternal torment from bringing my camera, we got in a little casual travel. These first two are from South Rim of Grand Canyon, just to see how it would do (A7Riv 1/1250s f/6.3 at 200.0mm iso320) shot of the Kaibab Trail Bridge from the South Rim. I believe the distance is about 2.8 miles. The second is a crop from the first. The others are scarecrows from the Cambria Scarecrow Festival.
Honestly, I am deeply impressed by what I saw here. In Germany, superzooms are also called soup zooms (Suppenzooms) to devalue them. There can be no question of that here ...
The Tamron 28-200 at Maroon Lake during my test trip to Colorado in September. I shot this at sunrise in the opposite direction from the famous Maroon Bells view. There are nice views in all directions there. But everyone seems intent on the Bells image.
The trees in the lower right corner look distorted, but they actually do lean like that. It is not caused by the lens.
I recently bought a Tamron 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 for Sony full frame mirrorless. After reading this forum about how it is almost as good as the Sony 24-105mm F4 with the extended focal length, I decided to go for it. However, after receiving it and doing some tests, I realized that the 28-70mm range seems to perform decently well even at the corners. However, the IQ starts to decline at 100mm. Once it hits around 135-200mm, the edges are extremely soft/blurry. Here are some sample RAW files:
It would be great if I could get some feedback on this! (Note that the test chart may not be 100% accurate but it gives a rough idea of how the lens performs) I want to know whether I should get an exchange on the lens.
