I agree. Nice images, and the first is the best. In the second one, I do like that it looks like there’s a figure seated cross-legged and facing away into the gloomy sea. But I don’t think the overall composition works as well as in the first image. I wish there was just a little more space to the right of the main rock formation in that second shot.

Like the mystic vibe in these. First one is my favorite among these two.
Thanks Roy!

Thanks Moondigger! I learned that the second one is called Gorilla Rock because of the mysterious figure sitting on the big rock. I agree that it's a bit crowded on the right.

As above. Great pics. Great depth on number 1. Englishman here. Nor Cal, North California? I thought it was endless sunsets?
Thanks Rutts! Yes, it's in northern California, about 3 hours north of San Francisco. We get our share of overcast foggy days.
Love them - for me the first is superb and the second would be with some light enhancing the details of the rock ... and the Gorilla (well seen). just imho.
HA! The Gorilla rock is literally right below my house. I must have 100s of photos of it over the years. When were you in Sea Ranch and do you live there or were you just visiting? Don't mean to pry but it is so rare I see anything from this area on the forum.
There are a pair of gulls nesting on it this year. Not sure if this is recent but it if is that is one of the pair.

Like others I prefer No. 1. I guess you used a long shutter exposure or a ND filter for the soft effect on the water. Well done either way.

Thanks William - yes, I've been posting long-ish exposure photos for some time without a ND filter, but finally got one.

Definitely set a fantastic mood. I can for sure see the gorilla in the 2nd shot. Nice photos!
Thanks Camit34 - At first you can't see the gorilla, then you can't not see it.

Thanks Krug - I'll have to get the gorilla in some better light - it's a pretty dark rock compared to the one in #1.

Hi Bob - wow, it's great to hear from a fellow Sea Rancher! Just took this the other day. Nearly all my photos for the last year or so are from SR or else occasionally nearby areas on Rt 1. PM if you'd like to connect!
