Just a standard big-wave-coming-at-the-camera shot.
Usually being a tall person is a disadvantage for landscape photography -- often kneeling down or hitting one's head on branches and logs -- but not for shooting big waves. This large wave in particular was a bit of a sneaker and forced me to lift the tripod over my head right after the shutter closed. It was during a bitter-cold winter day and I was out there in sandals and shorts. Needless to say, my legs were rather numb by this point. Forget Folgers, the best part of waking up is freezing saltwater in your nether-regions.
it is a very nice image you captured at the expense of sudden and intense testicular retraction. The image will last forever but the pain was short lived (I hope).
This is beautiful Johan. The shutter is just about right to get the motion perfectly. I have been drenched by the sea while shooting but those were the tropical seas mostly. Scary to think when it is freezing.
