A young student priest continuously rakes the barren soil in one of the courtyards of Engyoji Temple complex high in the mountains above Himeji City in Japan, perhaps in meditation. Engyoji or Engyo-ji may be somewhat familiar because part of the temple was used in the movie "The Last Samurai" for its isolation.
This image was selected to be part of the upcoming Eye of the Camera photography exhibit in Littleton, Colorado. In it's 54th year, the show is one of the oldest photography shows in the U.S. and one of my favorites.
