I completed (so far anyway, these could always use more data), my first image from my new observatory!
It sure is nice to sit inside and image, especially in the biting winter winds. I started this image a few days ago, on a night that had 70+ m.p.h. gusts. In fact, just up the road at Carter Lake, they recorded a couple of gusts up over 100 m.p.h.!
No problem in my dome though. The wind didn't get inside at all and I was able to image 5 minute exposures with the stars staying nice and round. I am just a little pleased with my dome .
Anyway, last night I was able to capture a little SII data on the Rosetta nebula to go with the Ha and OIII data I had before.
I only got 10 images at 300 seconds of SII before clouds rolled in, but I wanted to see how it all looked together. I will definitely be getting more data as this image is still too grainy.
The first is in the "Hubble Palette" where the Sulfur II is red, the Hydrogen Alpha is green and the Oxygen II is blue. The second is in HSO Palette, where the Hydrogen is red, the Sulfur is green and the Oxygen is blue.

Wow this is incredible! Especially considering how much data you got, nice work. What Bortle zone is your dome in? I see you are shooting narrowband, but I am curious as far as RGB goes. The

I live in Bortle 6 skies, so not dark at all. I can barely see parts of the Milky Way with averted vision and when there are clouds they are nice and bright

I coming into your stream a little late, but I just started a project installing a little 6’ 8” x 4’ 10” Resin Storage Shed to make a small (very small) back yard observatory. The roof slides back about half way. The walls are about 4’ high. It will sit on a wood foundation with a 6” steel pier coming up through the floor.
Today, I dug the hole and set the rebar and all thread for the foundation for the pier. So if I can muster the energy tomorrow, I’ll will mix and pour concrete. My mount is an AP600E, with a 4-1/2” refractor, primarily for Astro imaging, mostly narrowband like you, living in Houston proper. My main camera is a Canon M50 with a full spectrum modification.
It will be tight, but I should have access to most of the sky and be able to leave the OTA with guide scope in place and shut down, lock up, and be in bed in 5 minutes, 15 with a shower.

nice Resin Storage Shed. i plan to do 1 of those. put it up on the flat roof part of my house to get above the trees. i have an iOptron tri-pier and a iOptron cem25p mount. the OTA is a Canon FD 800mm f5.6l which is equivalent to a 5.5" refractor coupled with a 5D MKIII. i'm thinking of the EOS Ra or R5. i'm a true color guy.
tell me something. is that damned shed worth the $600.00 cost?

They were $449 each, plus tax, ordered through Home Depot. The delivery was about a week. I bought 2 of them, one as an observatory and one for actual storage. I unloaded both sheds today piece by piece and carried to the back yard and they seem well made. Plus they are small enough to stay under the HOA radar.
I will be pouring the pier foundation this evening and then tomorrow build the decking for the shed to sit on. So hopefully have all installed by the end of the day Monday. So I’ll give an update with a few photos.
Your 800mm lens is probably about the same size as my OTA, so the spacing should be similar.

thanks Sjjindra. i saw that shed online not at home depot though. it was $600.00 $449 each, plus tax, ordered through Home Depot. $449.00 is a better price. good luck with with your install. i will be looking forward to keeping tabs on your install.

I started a new thread in the General Gear-Talk thread with photos and a description of my little observatory.

This is something I really wanted to get into years ago, but I've realized I hate staying up all night only to get woken up by my kids at 5am, haha. Great images!
