Lovely work. Your flashes must be very close to the subject for those small aperture openings. Are you using the same power level and distance for each flash?

I believe he has stopped down the lens to increase the DOF so that the focus can be fixed at the distance to the feeding point where the blossom with nectar is positioned. Without the flash there is insufficient light for AF to work. That is one of the more common methods used in multi-flash hummer photography.
Hello my friends,
For these photos I used from 5 to 7 flashes, at different distances and positions depending on the flower and subject. In the case of the photos with birds and flowers I did focus previously on the flower and in the case of the picture number 4 I used AF.
