I've been traveling through Hawaiian islands last week, exploring the place, and looking for interesting shots of (mainly) beaches and waves. After the festival of arts (last summer) exhibition I've learned that people are looking for those types of images, and I wanted to have more for my upcoming 2020 exhibition. I probably will fly there again in a couple of months and spend more time near Hana, Maui for some sunrise beach images, but I think I've got a few interesting one already I could print large.
Images of waves are mainly from Bonsai Pipeline and Jaws. I left surfers in so that it's easy to see how large these waves really were. Some 40 (or more) footers!
Here are a few.... Any thought?
Sweet collection! You really did capture the essence of the Islands. Glad you did leave in the surfers for scale. Hard for me to imagine the size of those waves.

Great shots. First one was taken at "Secret Cove" on Maui near Wailea, correct? I was just there last month, didn't have a wide enough lens with me to get the trees in from both sides, I'll go back with a CV 10 next year.

It's a panorama, not a single shot. I guess with 14mm I could take the whole place but it would be small, kind of thrown away but the nature of super wide angle lens. And, you'd loose the resolution/pixels because smaller area of the sensor would actually have the most important part of the image. I would strongly suggest to do what I did, set your lens vertically and rotate it 180 deg taking shots. I took 5 and it was enough to get this filed of view. And, I think you could just use a 24mm lens to get this shot...
Just added one more shot from the beach. Again, it's a 180 (or close to it) panorama taken with my beloved Nikon 14-30mm f/4 lens. I just checked the exif info and I did shoot each image at 23mm. So 24-70mm or similar would be just perfectly fine, no need for a crazy super wide 10mm lens.

Great- thanks for the info. That makes sense. I already planned to go back for a sunset picture there and have used a strategy similar to that in other situations, so I'll give it a shot there next time.
All great pics btw- so many opportunities for images in Hawaii.
For this image, sunset. Sunrise may not look good. Sun will be on the opposite side of the beach so you may get little colors in the sky. I don’t know for sure but I would go there only for sunset.
