p.1 #1 · Fallen Leaves and Alpenglow from the Eastern Sierra
Made the image about a month ago in the Eastern Sierra on a trip to capture the fall colors. Was a bit late or rather timed it wrong because the week was rather windy and by the time I got there on Friday night, the leaves had fallen a bit prematurely.
Convict lake is a very popular spot for fall colors. Especially there is a specific bridge that people crowd on to take the iconic sunrise image with the alpenglow. Tried to step away from the bridge and went crashing through the willows and down to the water line. Did not regret this.
The boulders in the foreground gave the water enough tranquility to reflect the Alpenglow.

NB: I should have gone a week earlier. Should have listened to @Sunny. May be the color on the leaves would have distracted me from this sight and frame.

Very nice brotha. I gotta try this sometime. i've only shot at convict lake once before...in the winter. I have to add this to the list of things to photograph next year.

Gorgeous shot of a gorgeous location.
Just FYI, "alpenglow" refers to the phenomenon of a golden/reddish glow that appears immediately after sunset or before sunrise. This shot features beautiful golden-hour sunset light, but not alpenglow.

Beautiful image, strong composition. The water horizon seems tilted a hair, perhaps by design?
Thanks Rajan. Yes there is a slight curve on the water line. Since I had leveled the camera On the tripod to be horizontal, I left it this way. But if it’s distracting, I can fix it..

Got there very early, but the very thought of being 9n the bridge with 100 others pushed me over it 🤣🤣 thanks a lot.. I got to go in the winter.

Thank you Brian. This shot was a sunrise image but you are right this frame is after the sun was above the horizon behind me. I stand corrected and thank you for this.

Fantastic shot of one of my favorite spots. Laurel Mtn and Convict Lake.
So, how many other's were along the shore that morning?
Steve
Thank you Steve. This was on a Sunday morning. I was coming back from Bishop after spending Saturday there. I was the first one in to parking lot. But then the cars just came in droves. The bridge had more than 60-70 tripods. I had left early having seen the crowd in Bishop creek the day before. This specific spot, I had all to myself.
