I ordered one. Real reviews have been very scarce. Can we expect the Sigma to be sharper and have better rendering compared to the Sony 24-105 besides the aperture and FL difference?

the MTF's look good, and the bokeh looks great for a 24-70 based on the limited samples. It looks to be a winner. If I didnt already have the tamron, I'de take the small risk without question.
I briefly read the test with the help of the Google translater, one thing could be quite a downside:
"The lens is driven by a stepping motor. The focusing speed is not the fastest."
The lens was tested on a Sony A7III...
Good review. If I were to summarize his opinion it would be: The Sigma is just as good as the GM. If that is the case the lens will be a huge win coming in at $1,099.
Cheers. I grabbed these samples the other night. I just wish these 'review' places would stop using a 24 meg for their tests! Its a great camera but how about stressing the lens a little so we can see what its all about.

I will compare them side by side. (resolution/contrast and rendering)

Good luck finding a good copy if review samples already have decentering issues...
It's a zoom. A perfectly centered copy at every focal length is extremely rare. But what I see in this 2 samples on the long end is worse than what I would accept. But it would need more testing on flatter subjects to be sure.
I don't think those images are super useful for judging the centering. I think we mostly see the effects of depth-of-field (DoF).
The first image was taken at f/2.8 and focused near the center I think, the bottom left is significantly closer and I'd say that's just out of focus due to depth of field.
The second picture is at f/5.6 and seems focused on the man in the center. The equidistant trees left and right seem more or less equally sharp (both a little blurry again because of DoF imo) but the plant bottom left is a bit closer again.
I'll wait for other samples but I'm not blown away by the rendering personally in general.

Nice samples. It seems perfectly ok with a 24 mpx sensor.
However, their sample seems to have a weaker bottom left corner at the long end, easily noticeable here and here :
Thanks for sharing - and a correction: DCFever is Hong Kong based and the website is in Chinese (traditional), not Japanese. Totally different languages even if they happen to share some characters.
I see lot of heat distortion in the image. It's not worthy for image evaluation (the close tree trunk is super sharp though).
The forest image on Sigma site with 42mp is more impressive.
I was hoping for this lens, but i think overall my 24-70mm gm is better (like faster focus, and perhaps slightly better rendering and bokeh, but not better sharpness i think). And 1500 euro (my GM bargain) and 1200 euro Sigma DG DN art so, for price diff not worth it. Actually more tempted atm with 24-105mm OSS F4 because OSS, extra range, about equal sharpness as GM, less weight for mountain climbing.
Doesn't mean i'm not excited for this lens, i'm very, i bought it's sister lens: Sigma 14-24mm art DG DN, it's delayed because the 55mm Zeiss is not in stock (same shipment), hope to get it soon.
