i took my first trip to iceland in september. i also found this little hut and fell in love with it. i love that you were able to capture it in the snow, it gives it a whole different look to the place.
Yes, it is pretty, isn't it? Now you can park cross the street and walk toward the hut.

Yes, this will be included in my exhibition next week.

Not bad!

Of course it's a very nice image with great composition, color etc. - a real wall hanger!
Only thing I dislike is the very obvious-ness of what most probably was a radial filter you applied to have this spotlight on the hut. A halfway experienced viewer immediately sees: "This is not natural, this is post processing".
The art with post processing is that you DON'T think "ah, here he applied a radial filter, here he dodged and burned, here he did this and that..." but that it appears somehow "natural" (although it isn't).

What do you want from this image?
Kee,
What is important is that you produced an image that you liked. It has been very well received by knowledgeable viewers here on FM. Another's view on how post processing should be done is not important to your art, and vision.
No one is right or wrong in these things. Stick with your own vision.

OK, I see.
I'm right with my assumption that you used a radial filter (or something similar) to make the spotlight effect.
But I'm wrong in my opinion that it looks too obvious.
OK. If they all say it's great and the Koreans award you a prize, obviously these people are right and I'm wrong. Will never again say or write anything that goes against what most others think. Thank you for the lesson.

This picture, the Antelope Canyon picture, and many others are on display at Kee's photography exhibition. They look much better in person than on the web so if you are in the area, please stop by and see Kee's wonderful work.

Hello hasenbein,
I am fine and very happy that you gave me something to think of.
You are always welcome to voice your opinion.
Just that I believe post processing is a must after photographing as RAW.
I am not an expert in post-processing itself.
My technicality in post processing is very minimal but I try to convey the feeling of mine through the photograph.
I am currently having an exhibition here in Bethesda, MD.
I am very much interested to hear the visitors' critics and likings.
And somehow this particular photograph 'Red Hut in the Snow" is getting much attention from people.
Lastly, I would like to emphasize that your notion of "Will never again say or write anything that goes against what most others think." is wrong! Please continue to show your honest feelings and opinion whether they are purely technical or not.
Thanks again!!

Of course! I would never be so moronic and advise against post processing! It's indeed indispensable, and sometimes an image needs quite heavy post processing.
I just don't like, as I said, post processing where it's glaringly obvious which post processing took place. Of course it's a typical and perfectly fine technique to emphasize certain regions of a picture, e.g. by boosting exposure, shifting white balance etc. Here in my opinion it's overdone because one actually can see from where to where the radial filter goes.
