This is leaf time in some states but here in Maryland it has been bone dry and the leaves are going from green straight to brown, then falling.

I didn't place this red one in the place it's at, it is where it was ..... there were many to chose from and the wind was destroying any thing that you were trying to take a picture of anyway so it was a challenging day for me! It's a fragile looking leaf anyway and if I'd moved it it would have broken in half
I'm just clarifying my intentions just saying the way it was so no one thinks I did place it there.
