Vestrahorn, in Iceland, is a truly amazing place. A classic, I know, but a classic I am never tired to photograph, like here on a very cold March sunrise. 13 seconds with my Hasselblad X1D, Hasselblad XCD 21mm and my Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters.
Amazing Veri. I ran out of my luck here. I was all setup for the sunrise and next thing I know huge trailers with shooting equipments rolled in and I was asked to leave as it appears that the owner of that beach had rented out the property to the movie ppl that morning. I did not get back my entry fee though.
You need to use a filter which limits the light. There are 6 stop, 10 stop, 15 stop and other filters which look black or grey and instead of 1/200s, the right exposure becomes seconds during daytime. They are square or rectangular, for most variety, and fit into a filter system. It becomes an expensive setup but worth it if you use it enough.
Lee, Tiffen, Formatt, Nisi are some of the names.

Gorgeous! I'm a new photographer. How are you able to leave the shutter open for 13 seconds without overexposing the image?

Thanks for the info about the ND systems! I can see how owning the right set of filters can open doors for long exposure daytime shooting.

Thank you very much Roy, glad you enjoyed it! Sorry too hear about your bad luck with the cinema truck, and sorry to hear that you couldn't get your fee back either. Better luck next time!
