Guy - When you have one side that is always softer, then it's likely, IMHO, that it's the sensor/mount alignment. I had an A7RIII that I had to send to Sony to have the sensor /lens mount alignment checked because, opposite of Guy's experience, the LEFT side was always softer. I only saw this issue with wide angle lenses, which is also where alignment is more critical.
Sony Pro service replaced the entire sensor/mount assembly free of charge, after which the problem was fully resolved.

What is really weird going back to even my A7rII days if a lens is bad its the right side always. Talk about baffling

They should make a polarizer too. You would then just rotate the camera to the desired effect. And crop in post.
[/just kidding; I am fully aware that this negates the whole point of an UWA lens haha; but after reading so much about how you should use the GM 24 in crop mode, I couldn't resist it ]

Ok, i'm convinced now that there will some useable rear filters, either from Aurora or from Haida (or from someone else). I just ordered the lens.

The rumours are the Sigma 24-70 2.8 mirrorless designed lens development is going to be announced tomorrow. If it is anything like this lens it will be a top seller.

Nisi will also develop rear filters for the Sigma 14-24/2.8 DG DN.

Sigma with their new DN lenses designed for mirrorless has now become a name to be reckoned with in the E-mount lens arena. Sony, you better watch out and don't price your upcoming lenses too high .

What are "real" filters? Front filters? 150mm filters with an attachment device like exists for the 12-24?
Typo. I meant to write "rear" filters.
The upcoming Nisi "rear ND filters" could be gel material, not sure. I believe the Aurora version will have the thinnest glass at 0.2mm thickness. (avoiding induced field curvature). It will also have an aluminum enclosure around it.
Not sure about the thickness of the new Haida yet but they claim the filters are made from K9 glass.
I already tested the Aurora prototype and IQ is amazing (way better than gel filters) with pretty much no color shift and zero contrast loss.

Fred, any indication when the Aurora will be available, please? They are local that I might just drive there and pick it up. Just kidding ...

I'm waiting for the new prototype to arrive and will keep this thread updated.

Congrats! Post your impressions.
Beautiful lens. I'm blown away by its performance wide open.
First shot, in the front yard. Normally I'd expect to see massive fringing of the branches against the sky, but it's minimal with this lens. And the focus plane looks to be pretty flat too.
