Amazing you managed to get ‚‚tis wonderful image. I used to live next to Yosemite NP. My daughter gave me a drone, but I never could use it . It was, is a Nono ln NP.

Yea, it is always difficult to tell perspective from the air which I really like. Imagination is fun! As I recall, I was flying about 320 feet or so. Thanks for commenting.
Cheers!

Gorgeous capture and love the perspective on this. However, it appears to be way up there. I would have guess this was taken from an airplane and not a drone.

Wonderful capture : were you used to taking aerial pictures before this shot ? Just curious as I guess this is certainly not an easy exercise...
Yes, I had at least 30 hours of flight time before this particular image. That said, it’s still a learning curve to position the aircraft in the desired location:-).

Are you aware that you are not allowed to fly drones in this park? See below:
Launching, operating, or landing an unmanned or remote controlled aircraft within Badlands National Park is prohibited (36 CFR 1.5 Closures & Public Limits). Unmanned or remote controlled aircraft, popularly known as drones, may not be utilized in the park. Drones pose a safety risk to both visitors and wildlife..
Posting a shot like this (no matter how beautiful) is an invitation to others to do the same.

Ron, just for clarification, this image was not taken in Badlands NP, as I mentioned to Cincy Bruce. Badlands can be anywhere, but are generally described as hilly, with distinct erosional features and the vegetation is sparse.
And yes, I am quite aware of the drone restrictions as I am a FAA registered pilot.

Thanks for the clarification on that Ken! It's a beautiful image and shows what can be done with a drone...
No problem, Ron. I suspect if you thought this may have been shot in Badlands National Park, maybe others did as well. So, honest clarification doesn't hurt. And neither does a reminder that National Parks in the United States are off limits to drones.
Cheers

Great image. Been thinking of getting a drone for my trip to Cody next month. Would like to try it over the canyon areas on the McCullough range.
Thanks Don! The McCullough peaks area would be quite interesting for sure. Ifyou are interested in a drone, I am selling my DJI Phantom 4 Advanced. Takes great images, but I decided to get a smaller one so I could carry it in my backpack. Cheers!

Don, Regarding flying the McCullough Peaks area, be aware that flying from or landing in the McCullough Peaks wilderness study area is prohibited. I suspect a lot of areas nearby you could fly legally. Cheers.
