Over the top Eric. My wife is not particularly interested in what's posted on FM, but if I tell her you have posted more PB shots, she wants to see them ~ Ron

wow, amazing experience documented with shared knowledge, what more can one ask for? obviously voted.
Thanks KD...it is a fabulous experience and if willing to listen and learn from those who know a lot more that makes the whole thing even better...thanks for the support as always.

Many thanks for the nice words and support....yes it is quite a rush when you haven't really had much experience photographing bears and see this unfold in front of you.

Fantastic thread, a very impressive proximity and lovely youngers bears!
Thank you...we are not all that close....at about 100 meters and rarely a wee bit closer. Long lenses and a teleconverter are a must or at least highly recommended.

Thanks Birdie, like a fishing expedition....lots of waiting for a few minutes of exhilaration
These are simply amazing Eric. Several are just adorable with the interactions of the little ones.
I'd hate to be you having to cull through all the shots you captured. I wouldn't be able to delete a single one.

Really fantastic! I like the way mother's dirty coat contrasts with the cub's in #9.
Chris
Thanks Chris...I too liked the contrast...most bear photographers seem to really like the pristine fur the bears have a few days after they leave the den....and I get that as they are magnificent, but from a story telling point of view this was just perfect

I’m so happy she wants to see and likes my bear shots. My grandkids do to so she must be not only young in age but young at heart!

Thanks Dave...yes culling has come down to the outnof focus ones when my fingers were to frozen to move the joystick properly. But I’m not good at throwing out pix so soon. I’ve found that when I revisit photos in 6 months ones I didn’t particularly care for now seem a bit more attractive.

Terrific set of intimate polar bear family photos. Just voted for your thread.
In three trips to Svalbard, we only saw 2 or 3 cubs, but quite a few adults.
Thanks so much for your kind words and support. I understand Svalbard is a totally different experience that can give one great Photo ops of bears on the ice. You are fortunate to have gotten that opportunity.

Fantastic images Eric!
Thanks Dave, it is a stark contrast seeing mother bear in her old dirty coat. Maybe not appropriate for high art stuff but for someone who loves a story and behavior it was pretty darn cool

Awesome! How come you didn't get eaten?
Tim
Thanks Tim...I think it’s because I’m gluten free and so I don’t appeal to them😏. And, while polar bears are one of two animals the actively hunt people (crocs are the other), they prefer something more sealy. Interestingly, I learned that while they are carnivores their digestive system is designed to process fat which is why they love seals and whale blubber. And while I could stand to lose a few kg we don’t fit the bill...except in very lean times no pun intended)
Eric
I've been away from FM for some time, and come back and find THESE images! Simply stunning! The subjects are highly interesting, but your photographic and artistic skills are also on display.
I've considered a trip to see these majestic animals, and now I think I will have to move it up on the bucket list! !
