but with AD600Pro you can get head extension
I was not aware that they had this.... But still, I don't think you can hook 2 lights on one pack? Thats another thing I really like about the new ELB500, the fact you have full asymmatical power distribution on 2 heads... I know I am a bit biased, I have worked with Elinchrom gear for a long time and love the quality. Thats also the reason why I still work with the older Quadra packs. They just don't break and keep working. And as long as they keep working, there is no need for me to invest in new packs, which is nice from a business perspective... Now if I do decide to invest again, it will be ELB500's for sure.

Furthermore I would personally never buy a Godox AD600pro, or any other battery powered monolight. I love the pack and head systems, especially outside where you have the wind potentially blowing over your strobe. I rather have the electronics sit on (or close to) the ground, if that happens....

Now, when I wrote that last paragraph back in 2017 I had not encountered the issues with the gradient yet, when using HS for fill flash indoors, with light bouncing of a wall. This encounter did change my opinion on HS a bit. I still like it, but I would rather get the HSS option nowadays, hence my advice to buy the ELB500..

I agree... the main reason to use/buy the ELB400 over the ELB500 is shorter flash duration at or under sync speeds (with action/pro heads).
My understanding is that because the ELB500 does TTL, it's using IGBT to control output, which at lower than full power results in increasingly shorter flash durations. By 1/4 power you're at comparable duration to an Action head on the ELB400's A port and at 1/8 power similar to the ELB400's B port. Of course the ELB400 and Action head have a significant short flash duration advantage at full power...

I guess I should not have wrote this, I am afraid I've jinxed it. This morning one of my old trusty Quadra packs gave me an Er2 code, which is an error code. According to the manual, it meant it overheated, but thats pretty much impossible after just 6 or 7 pops in a relatively cold studio. So, after a 15 minute cool down, I powered it up again, but its dead Well, its not completely dead, but it refuses to flash. So this afternoon I had to send it off to the tech guys for a repair. Now I'll have to wait for them to inspect it and hope they can fix it for a reasonable price. If not, I guess I will have to make an unplanned investment soon

Just to give an update, the had to replace the power control board. The repair has cost me 230 euro VAT included. The repair technician told me that he could see that the unit popped a flash over 40000 times so it was well used...
It did leave me a bit vulnerable though, having no backup kit, so this week I decided to invest in an ELB 500 dual to go kit
