The Contax 100-300 does work well on the GFX. There's a bit of vignetting at shorter lengths, but gone by 150mm or so. All the same, the native GF lenses are so good that I'm planning to get the 100-200 and between that and the 250 + 1.4x that I already have, I doubt that I'll need to keep the Contax after the new lens arrives.
That's exactly my thinking as well... these lenses (the native GF lenses) all work so well that it is hard to contemplate messing with adapted lenses unless you have a specific aesthetic that you are trying to achieve that is unavailable within the GF lineup.
Since the GF lenses all appear to be designed with extremely well controlled aberrations and smooth, non-memorable bokeh, they are extremely well suited for many purposes, but won't be everyone's cup of tea (I'm an Irish breakfast tea drinker, myself).

I'm planning to get it, but will wait to see if there's another sale in the next few months. I won't have anything to use it for till then anyway. Meanwhile, I'd love to hear how it compares to other lenses.

Where's the photos? First impressions? Yay or nay? Come on guys!
Several people on the Facebook GFX page are really liking it. I haven't heard anything negative so far other than the 110/120 have better IQ but that's to be expected out of a zoom.

I had read that as well, but the gentleman making the original post seem to indicate that it was soft enough that he was going to return it and stick with primes. At this point, I am going to do the same though I want to try to the lens at some point for myself, but I will be keeping my eyes out for more reviews. Perhaps his lens was a little soft or decentered.

Soft is not a term I’ve ever heard applied to a GF lens, so it would be unusual if this is true. I wonder if the person reporting this doesn’t have the latest firmware installed. I read at least one report of someone having soft results with the GF 250 until they updated their firmware.

I have seen a couple of GF lenses that were decentered and as you said FW could also be the culprit. I am going to wait until a few more of the GF100-200 make it into the wild before making a final decision. I had thought it maybe a good lens for a trip to Antarctica next year so I will be following the reviews carefully.

Well, I received this lens yesterday and had a chance to play around with it at the local Japanese Garden this morning. All shots were on a tripod, Stabilization off, and a polarizer. All processed in Capture One, and some artistic license taken, particularly with vignetting. So don't judge based on vignetting, I just like it
Bottom line: "No, you can't have my lens!" I'm not sure what the FB folks are complaining about, this lens is every bit as sharp as the 32-64 Zoom, and comes exceptionally close to the 110 at the same aperture. The only real difference I see in the 100-200 and the 110 is that the 110 is ever so slightly warmer. Makes sense since it's made for portrait work.

Thank you for posting these, definitely glad to hear a different experience/perspective on the lens. At some point I will have to give it a try.
Cheers!

Thanks. You are referring to firmware 3.30 of the 50S, right?
Is there firmware to update for Fujinon GFX lenses? TIA.

Dude! I saw these photos in the FB group today but you didn't say what lens you used!!
Ha, Ha...yeah, I posted here first, where I did not need to ID the lens...then copied the text over to FB where it created all kinds of confusion. I've updated the FB post.
