Last October, I took a client up to Wiseman Alaska (280 miles North of Fairbanks) to photograph the Northern Lights. We were so fortunate to have 7 clear nights, with activity each night. Some of the nights, you could help but just stare mesmerized at the show. By the end of the trip, we couldn’t wait for a cloudy evening to catch up on some sleep, but we had to wait to get home to see clouds and sleep.

These are fantastic!! Somethign weird is going on in the foreground in #3, it looks very blurry.

Thank you. It does look like I've got something out of focus going on in #3. I'll have to go back and look at the RAW.

wow! This is an impressive set for sure. I've never seen the northern lights, but its certainly on my list of things to do.

Thank you !

Most are single images. There is certainly some post processing to balance the Northern Lights and the foregrounds. Normally the Northern Lights are the brightest thing in the scene so I need to lighten up the foreground. I normally shoot a second exposure for the foreground just to make sure I have all the detail and I can decide when I get home, but rarely use it.
